Very excited to started with as it was the "A" race of the season. It's the main one that I really want to do my very best. I have been working extremely hard over the past months and hopefully the effort pays off. Arriving back in Thailand just one week before the race and found it quite tough with the heat just running outside. Definitely didn't have enough time to adapt to the hot weather and humidity but nothing could be done so the only solution was to man up! Left for Cebu on Tuesday night so all the travelling could be done all at once and gave myself more time to settle in. Had a really bad jet lag for almost the whole week from UK, kept getting up before 5am and fell asleep before lunch. Later on during the week more people arrived. It was nice to see friends again and getting to meet many new people was fun. Finally it's the day! Didn't sleep well at all….very typical. Getting up at 1am is torturing, especially with the nerve running in your blood stream. Gave up at the end so just got off the bed and quietly rechecked my transition bag and made sure I got everything. Headed down to breakfast exactly at 4am, feeling absolutely sick but needed to squeeze food in…..one of the worst pre-race moments. Found myself in the deep blue water, once again waiting for the gun and asked myself "why am I doing this to myself again" but didn't have time to answer….. BANG! Game on! Remembered my coach told me to swim hard so I did. Managed to got a clear swim for a while then started to get stuck with slower men in the earlier waves. Ok… it's time for a proper sighting so I put my head up and all I could see was a field of swim caps then I thought "SHIT!". Tried my best to work my way through, it was quite a water fight and I ended up swim over people and smacking some. The best bit of the swim was definitely the sea life…lots of fish and corals definitely made it more enjoyable than dark cold water in UK. =P Telling myself Holly (my bike) was missing me to motivate myself to kept swimming hard and got out of there finally! Having to queued to get into transition was frustrating…arch so I ran in front of the guys and just fought my way in. (Sorry, for once I do not respect social rules) Saw Ling Er (super fast Singaporean triathlete) in transition then I thought my swim must be ok (I don't have GPS watch for swimming). Took Holly ASAP and ran after her. I think I was 20 meters behind her on after mounting, couldn't get through the bikes in the way front of me and I wasn't fast enough to follow her so she was out of sight after 5 mins. It was very windy on the way out and even worse reaching the M loop. Very strong headwind on the way out so I concentrated on rehydrating and gels then rode hard on the way back with help from the tailwind. The best part of the bike was definitely riding along with the guys because I got a very big cheers from young girls and women while passing them on the way back. Definitely lifted my spirit up especially when I was suffering from the heat and feeling rough from fighting the head wind. (I need to do this more often in the future races =P) But yes I did enjoy the bike very much, the scenery was beautiful and I was doing around 30kph in average (might not be fast for most people but this is good for me!). Got back to T2 to find out there were only 2 or 3 bikes around my area, which meant I must be doing ok. Put on my good old running shoes and shot off. Legs felt awful and super heavy. Struggling with 5.40min/km pace at the beginning and running up elevation made the whole situation worse. Kept going anyway as walking has never been my option since started running. #demonlegs were killing me and I was boiling from the heat. I made sure I drank lots of coke/gatorade/water and cool down at every single aid station, just to be very safe! I struggled only up to the first 10K where I found my legs again (or my legs found me) or it could be that I saw another lady running quite fast and she must have been only 5 mins behind so I had no choice and this was a RACE i.e. push until collapse before getting OVERTAKEN! Now I could drop my pace and felt much better. I ran stronger and stronger, reaching 18th Km without even realising this. Maybe I shouldn't have looked at my GPS as now a voice in my head was saying "3K is such a long way to go….who the f* runs 3K" hahaha Then I brought myself back to my training where I had to do 3K hell sprints off-bike to convince myself it's SHORT!! That was successful mental talk so I cracked on, did not drop the pace and yes the best part of the run was the sprint finish. :D Crossing the finish line was a wonderful feeling, especially when you got your PB, had an amazing race and knew you did give everything you have got. Sumiko Tan (another Singaporean triathlete) who came 3rd in our AG came to shake my hand and said to me "nicely done"! I love the spirit of the sport. Mom and dad found me just after and told me I was 5 mins off the podium. I was a bit gutted but definitely couldn't complain! This was only my second half IM after all…still a lot to learn. (and I'm 24 competing in 25-29 AG =P) So 5 hours 43 minutes to swim 1.9K, bike 90K and run 21K for me! การเข้าเส้นชัยนี่เป็นความรู้สึกที่สุดยอดมาก หลังจากการที่เรารู้ว่าเราได้ทำดีที่สุดแล้ว และยังได้ทำลายสถิติของตัวเองอีกด้วย สุมิโกะเป็นนักกีฬาอีกคนของสิงค์โปร์มาจับมือด้วยค่ะ เขาบอกว่า "nicely done" น้ำใจนักกีฬาที่เป็นจิตวิญญาณของไตรกีฬาจริงๆ และคุณพ่อคุณแม่ที่รออยู่ก็บอกว่า เฮ้ยห่างจากที่สามแค่5นาทีเอง กรี๊ดๆ เสียดายนิดหน่อย แต่แค่นี้ภูมิใจมากแล้ว เราแข่งครั้งที่สองเอง ^^ ยังต้องเรียนรู้อีกเยอะ ว่ายน้ำ1.9km จักรยาน 90km วิ่ง 21km ใช้เวลาทั้งหมด 5.43ชม :) There were 1+1 slots for my AG for the 70.3 World Championship so Ling Er who came 2nd took one and I decided to take the roll down. I felt like I deserved it after all from all the hard work and my time was solid enough (with top 5 AG finish in a big race!). I am very proud to be the first Thai lady to make it to this race! Finally I would like to say thank you very much for everyone's support, especially my both of may parents who make this possible and my coach, Jurgen Zack for pushing me real hard and and showing me what I could achieve. So for more fun …. my next races are ส่วนการแข่งขันที่กำลังมาถึง ช่วยเป็นกำลังใจให้ด้วยนะคะ ^^ - Weymouth Challenge Half (half-iron) 14th Sept 2015 - Phuket Laguna and challenge November 2015 และ ฝากเชียร์ 70.3 World championship Austria 2015 ในปีหน้าด้วยนะคะ

Well "Easy" is definitely not one of the description of my life haha. I spent around 15 hours (or more) training on top of being a final year medical student. When I am sent for long rides, I usually take longer time to finish them as the roads around Leicester are not that great and most of the areas are hilly. As a mind of "perfectionist" I refuse to stop until the GPS says the number of Km I needed to do so I would stay out as long as it takes to finish them.
I was much weaker on the bike starting off triathlon as I have never ridden road bikes (or haven't been on any real bikes for years). There is the hill that I remembered I struggled with. At the beginning, I could barely ride up that hill…I meant almost dead effort! I used to hate all the hills. So this summer (when sun rises at 5 am)on the day I got sent out for a ride in the morning, I would set up my alarm clock no later than 5.30am (or sometimes even 4.30…depends on what time I need to be in at hospital) and deliberately choose "that" hill to climb. I did this for most of my rides. I knew it would take longer and more tiring but I want to be stronger….. and so I did. I never ask for things to be "easy" or just get the rides done but I want to crack the most out of it! Nowadays I embrace every elevation of the roads and sometimes say "where is the hill?!). Sometimes when I miss calculated the time in morning longer sessions, I did not have enough time to stretch, foam roll "AND" shower so… and must be changed to "OR". Foam roll and stretch are usually the winner……(my dirty little secret!) And yes make-up has moved to the bottom of priority list! ในบางครั้งที่นิต้องซ้อมยาวหน่อยในตอนเช้าแล้วกะเวลาผิด นิก็จะมีเวลาไม่พอที่จะยืดเส้น นวดโฟม "และ" อาบน้ำ ก็ต้องเลือกเอาละค่ะ 55 และยืดเส้นกับนวดโฟมก็จะมาก่อนเป็นส่วนใหญ่ (ไม่อยากเจ็บ) และการแต่งหน้านี่ไปอยู่ท้ายสุดเลยค่ะ :p Of course, getting up early to train does leave me quite tired during the day but once I get used to it then it's not so bad. Sometimes during lunch break I would quickly run home for 15 mins nap then back to the hospital haha This is usually refreshing enough for me to function properly in the afternoon (and evening sessions on some days). Most weekends are spent doing long rides and weekdays for shorter rides. I remembered riding up to 400 something km in one of the week haha Thank you Jurgen :p I honestly love all of them. I love to be out there living the moment. I rode through strong winds, pouring rains, fog, those hills (and potholes!)…I guess to be a good triathlete you need to be strong inside too not just outside. There tough conditions taught me to be brave and stay strong (plus bike handling skills!). This is very beneficial to racing conditions and everyday life. Lunch break to me is sometimes not really a break. If there is enough time and the session is short I would try to fit one in. I did my short run (6/7K) once and it was a very hot day. The plan was to leave my backpack with my friend, Alice while I went running and I would take my key so I could run home to shower then be back in time. However, Nini being nini…. I ended up forgetting my key in the backpack so I needed to run around hospital (dripping with sweat and in running shorts) to find my friend. The worst part was bumping into consultants I know and patients gave me very odd look! (well I guess the fact that I did not shower and spent the rest of the afternoon sitting in lecture was worse… haha) 55555 Despite all the training hours, mom was surprised by the fact that I have yet to fail any tasks or exams yet. I guess it is all about time management. The rest of the free time I have is spent reading (or catching up with work), cooking (and eating too much), seeing therapists, playing guitar, sleep (never later than 10pm!) and seeing friends. The plan from now is to keep working hard and playing hard as I always did. Well maybe I shouldn't say I am working hard because I love what I am doing so much…. for something to be called "work" it shouldn't make you happy, should it? I honestly think if I could fit all these madnesses in, then no one should have any excuses what so ever to exercise at least 30 minutes a day!
